I really don’t like talking about what I do (the writing and art) as ‘work’.
The connotation of ‘work’, for me is something which you’re doing against your will, usually for money.
I also despise the word ‘career’ for much the same reasons.

Accountants have careers and go to work.
Artists and writers just get up and do their thing.

And in other news, an old employer of mine is determined to rid itself of as many fully waged staff as it possibly can.

I remember those days well.
That’s what I really call ‘work’!
