This is what gives me a total buzz about comics every time:
"One person with a pen and piece of paper can do something on the scale of Star Wars," (Matt Thorn)
[From the BBC article about Manga]
Scott McCloud says this over and over again in Understanding Comics, and that's one of the reasons that I've read that book so many times. If my enthusiasm for the medium is ever flagging (usually immediately after reading a really crap comic... or a whole pile of them) I dig it out. And before I've read three pages I want to get my pencil case out and start work on an epic.
